Piano Trio Series: Finn Carter

United by a shared approach to improvisation that prioritises the music over ego, the group draws on a wide range of influences and a deep understanding of the jazz tradition to explore new musical territory every time they play. Carter’s compositions blend jazz, soul, hip hop and free music, creating works that are both personal and accessible.
Since their first performance in late 2021, the trio has built a reputation for compelling live shows, including a main stage performance at Ronnie Scott’s in May 2024, closing Brick Lane Jazz Festival in 2022, and headlining Jern og Metall Festival in Norway in August 2024.
In late 2022, they recorded Carter’s debut album Hymn For My Dad at Arda Recorders in Porto, which was released in September 2024 to critical acclaim and supported by a sold-out UK album launch tour.
